About Us
The James A. Masterson foundation was founded in 2010 in loving memory of my late brother Jim. Jim was a great brother, father, husband, mentor, coach and person that knew how to give of himself to make others around him better. Jim knew sacrifices from a life of suffering with debilitating arthritis. My brother passed away tragically in late 2008 after a fall while working on his house.
In Jim’s memory I started the James A. Masterson foundation. It is a
registered 501(c) 3 corporation that is a public charity.
Our mission is “to help people in crisis”. The foundation is
small but has many benefactors and projects in which we work closely
with other worthy charities that share our vision of helping people
who are in crisis or cannot help themselves.

Ponheary Ly Foundation
Based in Siem Reap Cambodia, this organization was named
after the founder who was a survivor of the Khmer rouge rule in
which millions of innocent Cambodians were killed during the
genocide that took place between 1975-1979. In a country that has
been war torn for 3 decades; Ponheary Ly has worked at getting poor
children to school by providing uniforms, food, medicine and a

Waves for Water
This is a non-profit organization started by Christian Troy.
He was a professional surfer who after retiring realized the need to
provide clean drinking water to poor people around the world. His
goal is to provide safe water through the distribution of water
filters that at a cost of $50 can clean 1 million gallons of water
and provide water for 100 people a day for 5-6 years. That is really
getting a good value for your small donation. Please see our
home page for additional details for this
project.
Please check out our schedule in our brochure. If you would like to keep up with us on our journey; please see our handout for some of the final needs that we'll have for the trip and contact information.
Chasing the Lightkeepers, looks to be a very rewarding experience. Please visit our funding page on trevolta if you'd like to help us out. I am excited to be a part of the trip because it will be an opportunity to travel, to learn, and to experience new adventures. This not only frees the mind, but at the same time provides me the opportunity to explain to others that just a small amount of money can change a large amount of lives. Chris’ initial idea of the trip sounded so fun that I was very excited to hop on board. I believe that together Andrew, Chris, and myself sharing our time, talents, and treasures to help the poor will truly make a difference.
This trip is a great way to meet new people, spread the word about the many problems that we can help to fix, and, on a personal level, to gain some perspective on my own life. When I travel I find a certain freedom that, though very difficult to describe, is very spiritual. I, similarly, experience this freedom when I help others and spend time with friends. This trip has ALL of that! I’d like to thank Chris and Andrew for their generosity, and also you, for your support.
